Hi,

I am writing this to see if anyone knows a way I can avoid bankruptcy.

Here's how I go into this mess:

1) When my father got old I wound up as his sole caregiver as all the friends and relatives who mooched off him when he was healthy abandoned him when he he got sick and needed increasingly more attention over the years. We were increasingly living off credit cards to pay the bills and not lose everything. He absolutely refused to go into a rest home where he'd be in a strange place without his possessions and home of 36 years and with no friends or relatives coming to see him except when I might come by. So my credit cards added to my free lance work from home were helping with the expenses. Including his going to the hospital and back 4 or 5 days a week via taxicab(!!) as he refused to go any other way.

2) My oldest friend Dennis W. Dodson, whom I had known since 1965 without ever lying to me uses my trust in him to steal over $3500 from me by swearing constantly the SOCIAL SECURITY was going to give him SSD starting with a $5,000 check so he would pay me back "immediately". I ran up a crdit card to the max for him and when I had no more money he vanished on the day he said he would pay me back. ( I wish I had secretly taped the names at the Social Security office he was throwing around to convince me he had been there and knew the people. I don't recall which ones he used back then. He was my closest friend since 1965 so I simply believed him)

3) No one would hire me after 1979 so I started sending joke ideas to a newspaper cartoonist and he started sending me money back. With him I never had to fill out a job application or send a resume. He knows nothing about me and we never met. He lives in California. I learned that I could make up to $400 a month if I really throw myself into it. BUT I am only allowed to make $200 a month so I am not allowed to work my way out of the hole. I understand the reasoning. Obviously if a person can make a bunch of money then he really doesnt need help. But the difference here is that a) All 'normal' jobs demand resumes or job applications. And those are the kiss of death for many people. Hundreds of such things did not get me any work but one non-resume, non-application got me some work. b) My job can end at any time as the cartoonist himself is in his 80s. And I never have any idea when my money is coming or how much it will be. c) Making $400 a month (max) is still just $100 a week.

Anyway, if anyone has any idea of what I can do, please contact me.... Walt Karwicki, 252 west cottage place, york,pa 17403 karwicki@hotmail.com

I typed this at the York College Library. I will copy it at the Memorial Library downtown. I have to type here and make copies there.
